UK Number Porting

WHAT IS NUMBER PORTING ?

Number porting allows you to move your phone number from one supplier to another.

WHY WOULD I WANT TO PORT A NUMBER ?

There are many reasons for porting numbers. These include:

  • Poor service at current provider.
  • New provider offering a better price.
  • Required service not available at current provider.
  • Current provider unable to move your existing numbers when you move premises.
  • Consolidation of services.

CAN I PORT ANY NUMBER TO NET-TELCO ?

In an ideal world you should be able to port any UK number to Net-Telco, however we do not live in an ideal world and porting is a bit of a black art.

  • The number to be ported must be a live number.
  • There may be technical reasons that stop a number from being ported.
  • Necessary agreements may not be in place between the involved communication providers.
  • Some communication providers go out of their way to make porting a number away from them so difficult that we have to give up.

We will attempt to port a number on your behalf on a No Port No Fee basis (Provided you do not cancel the port yourself, instruct your current provider not to port the number(s), you complete and return to us a Number Port Letter of Authority if requested to do so (not needed for all number ports) and provide us with the information we request).

WHAT PIT FALLS SHOULD I BE AWARE OF ?

When you port a number from a PSTN Line or the main number from an ISDN installation all services on that line will cease when the port takes place. If you have broadband on that line it will be disconnected at the point the number is ported.

If you are in a contract for the line or broadband on that line you will remain responsible for that contract.

If you are moving premises DO NOT cancel the line. We are unable to port non working numbers. The line will be ceased automatically when the port takes place.

Let your current provider know you are porting the number.

HOW DO I PORT A NET-TELCO NUMBER TO ANOTHER COMMUNICATION PROVIDER ?

We get very few export requests, however at Net-Telco we understand that you may have genuine reasons to move your number away and will not put obstacles in your way.

If you complete the Number Export Request Email we will mark your number ready for export and send you details that will make your new communication provider’s task simpler. We only wish other communication providers were as accommodating as we are when we attempt to import numbers from them.

We do charge you what it costs us in third party fees to export numbers:

  • £4.90 per geographic number
  • Geographic numbers previously imported as multi numbers are charged at £30 per range.
  • £35 per non geographic number.

These charges apply when using the PSTN export method. They do not apply to SIP forwarding.

All prices are subject to, but are quoted excluding VAT.
